CRISEYDE
A new opera by Alice Shields

The Criseyde Project has been created to support the final development of Alice Shields' new feminist opera Criseyde, a retelling of Chaucer's Troilus and Criseyde in Middle English, with librettist Nancy Dean.   Following concert performances of music from Criseyde in 2009 at the Feminist Theory and Musicology 10 Conference at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, and in New York City in 2008 by the New York City Opera and the American Virtuosi Opera Theater, the Criseyde Project will be sponsoring the completion of the opera by composer Alice Shields and a concert in New York City of music from the opera.
